Why create another arts council?
Art is expression, kindness, communication, purposeful and essential to all our lives. It deserved to be taken care of and celebrated. Right now, our community is made up of pockets of individualized groups of people. Each pocket is full of very talented people. We need a way to bring everyone together and share in their talents and celebrate who they are.
Black Hills Arts Council is based in Box Elder SD. Our mission is to bring unity to our community by highlighting and supporting the artistic diversity of our locals. Our goal is to create a unified community by providing classes taught by local artists, restaurants, bakeries, and businesses that will share their unique and valuable skills.
We want to make everyone feel like they are appreciated and that their skills are not only needed but valued. Individualized specific skills are dying out and we want to revitalize them and show case how important they are. The arts are important to our lives and who we are as the Black Hills, and they deserve to shine.
